Elaine Mitchell

Biography

Elaine is an experienced professional negligence lawyer, specialising in claims against a range of professionals. She also has experience of undertaking policy coverage investigations where there is a question about whether an insurance policy will respond to a claim.

Before joining Tenet, Elaine spent the early part of her career as a solicitor in the professional indemnity team at a national law firm, handling negligence claims on behalf of insurers and their policyholders. She then went on to join the in-house risk & compliance team of a top 100 global law firm, where she became head of professional indemnity.

From her time in-house, Elaine understands what it is like to be the client. She is acutely aware of the financial, reputational and emotional effect that claims can have on businesses and individuals, as well as the significant time involved. Elaine therefore strives to get claims to a resolution at the earliest opportunity.

At Tenet their focus is on fraud and financial crime compliance for clients across the UK and overseas. This expertise covers the spectrum of preventative action in the form of training, ethics, governance and policy advice to case investigation and guidance on recovery of loss from financial fraud. Part of their litigation service offering is advice on professional negligence claimant work where fraud or dishonesty is an underlying issue.
